Meet Mark Peterson, M.D.
Dr. Peterson is an internationally trained spine specialist practicing minimally invasive spine surgery. He received his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University. He completed his internship and orthopedic residency at Akron City Hospital, Akron, Ohio. Dr. Peterson also completed fellowships in spinal surgery and research at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Adelaide, South Australia; Queens Medical Center in Nottingham, England; and North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
He has practiced spinal surgery in Medford since 1994 and was a founding member of Southern Oregon Orthopedics. In 2013 Dr. Peterson left the orthopedic group and founded a practice devoted exclusively to the needs of spine patients, Southern Oregon Spine Care. Dr. Peterson has over ten years experience with design and development of surgical implants, techniques, and surgeon education. He has published numerous articles and book chapters and remains active in clinical research. He is the founding member of the Providence Spine Program and current Medical Director of the Providence Southern Oregon Spine Institute.

Meet Tom Trubenbach, FNP
NP Trubenbach is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. He received his MSN and Nurse Practitioner Certificate at Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California, and his BSN at Oregon Health Sciences University where he received the Emily and Warren Bishop Nursing Scholarship.
He has also received additional education and training as a Surgical Assistant, and has been performing in that capacity since 2003. Prior to entering the nursing program, Tom served as an Army Medic in both the National Guard and Active Duty from 1988 – 1996.
Tom is married and a proud father of three, as well as a grandfather. He enjoys all that Southern Oregon has to offer, including the mountains, snowboarding, boating, and rafting. Tom is also proud to ride his motorcycle with “The Old Guard Riders”, a group dedicated to assisting America’s military veterans and their families, including providing flag lines at veterans funerals.
Meet Erik Olsson, M.D.
Dr. Erik Olsson is originally from Asheville, North Carolina. He is a fellowship-trained Spine surgeon and Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Erik received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he competed in varsity track and cross country. He completed medical school at the University of North Carolina, School of Medicine where he graduated with distinction. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, and then continued his postgraduate training with a fellowship in Spine Surgery at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The spine fellowship program at the Rothman Institute was recently ranked first in the country for volume and academic impact.
Chris Weinman, PA-C
Christopher Weinman is a board certified Physician Assistant who has been focused on spine care since graduating from Pacific University with a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies in 2006. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Pacific University and went on to become an Emergency Medical Technician prior to his Physician Assistant education. Chris has been providing comprehensive spine care to patients for over 10 years. Chris is involved in all aspects of care including research, surgical assisting, and evaluation and treatment of patients in the clinic and hospital settings.
